Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) is a progressively occlusive (or blocking) disease where plaque builds up on the arterial wall of the artery. The disease progresses over time as the plaque builds up from a point where the individual has no symptoms all the way down to the point where amputation becomes a possibility due to the lack of blood flow to the area. We suggest to our patients that if they are feeling pain in their legs and are older than 50 yrs should be seen by one of our Vascular Surgeons and get the diagnostic test that lets our providers know the extent of the disease progression. Western Vascular Institute has a stand-alone vascular testing center to provide all individuals who would like to get tested for vascular disease timely and accurate testing so that their providers can make the best decision in their treatment plan.
