Western Vascular Institute is a private practice of board certified vascular and endovascular surgeons. We are at 7165 E University Dr. in suite 183, building 21. This is on University Dr. East of Power Road. We are conveniently located close to the Banner Baywood Heart and Medical Center. Our office hours are Monday through Friday 7 am to 5 pm.
Our Surgeons
Dr. Mitar Vranic received his medical degree from the university of osteopathic Medicine in Des Moines Iowa. He finished his general surgery residency and vascular residency in Columbus Ohio. He went on to train at the Arizona Heart Institute specializing in vascular and endovascular surgery. After his fellowship was completed, he remained at the Arizona Heart Institute practicing among world renowned surgeons, developing techniques and medical devices ...still used today. As the founder of Western Vascular Institute, Dr. Vranic s reputation of leading edge technology and aggressive treatment of vascular disease has led to the success of this practice. He has been recognized as a Phoenix Top Doc several years in a row.
Dr. Henry Tarlian received his medical degree from St. Georges University. He also completed his fellowship at the Arizona Heart Institute in vascular and endovascular surgery. He became part of the fellowship training program, while still finding time to publish and extensively research some of the most complex and difficult endovascular cases performed to date. Dr. Tarlian joined with Dr. Vranic in 2004 to establish one of the largest and most successful vascular centers in the state of Arizona.
Dr. Joseph Vijungco who came to us from Reno Nevada. His medical degree was obtained from St. Louis University school of Medicine. His fellowship was completed at North Western University Medical Center in vascular and endovascular surgery. He is board certified in general surgery, vascular surgery and is a registered vascular ultrasound technician. Dr. Vijungco has done extensive research in carotid artery disease and stroke prevention.
Our newest surgeon is Dr. James Chalk, who came to us in August of 2010 from the University of Tennessee vascular surgery program. He is an extremely gifted surgeon whose is well published and has worked with leading edge technology on some of the most contemporary surgical interventions. Fluent in both Spanish and English, he joins Dr. Vranic , Dr. Tarlian and Dr. Vijungco in their combined efforts for education and awareness of vascular disease.

Dr. Mitar Vranic, Dr. Henry Tarlian, Dr. Joseph Vijungco and Dr. James Chalk and their staff of highly trained professionals offer the most technologically advanced procedures available for the prevention and treatment of vascular disease. Diagnostic ultrasounds are performed on site, to offer accuracy and convenience to our patients.
Our physicians and staff specialize in a broad spectrum of vascular disorders including but not limited to... varicose veins, peripheral vascular disease or PAD, aneurysms, carotid disease and many more.
